François Larocque is a full professor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, French Common Law Program. He holds the University of Ottawa Francophonie Research Chair on Language Rights. He is also of counsel at Power Law. His legal practice and academic research focus on the protection of minority language rights with a special focus on Francophone and Indigenous communities. He has represented various stakeholders in language rights cases before the Supreme Court of Canada and provincial appellate courts. Professor Larocque advises community associations and institutions on law reform, including most recently, Ontario’s French Language Services Act and Canada’s Official Languages Act. He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on language rights and, more recently, of planctus.ca, a web application that facilitates complaints to various language commissioners and other relevant authorities.
